The single best spot to find the elegant trogon is Cave Creek Canyon which is in the heart of Chiricahua National Monument.

When visiting Grapevine Canyon Ranch, you are within short driving distance to Chiricahua National Monument. If you take the loop trail, you will eventually come to a patch of forest. This is about half way on the full loop trail and it is a very welcome break.

If you go on this hike in the summer you will undoubtedly see hundreds of butterflies congregating on the oaks. This photograph was taken July 5th.
