Are you interested in learning how to train your horse in the Western Discipline? Are you looking to further your Western Horsemanship skills? Dates: January 5 – 9, 2011 February 16 – 20, 2011 $800 plus tax and gratuity
Western Horsemanship & Training Clinic Schedule Wednesday – Welcome! 5:00 PM – Saloon opens, meet your wranglers & your fellow “students” 6:30 PM – Enjoy a home-cooked dinner Thursday – Train your Horse to Western Horsemanship 8:30 AM – Meet your horse & get ready to begin! 9:00 AM – Ground Behavior: Train your horse to respect you, starting on the ground (leading, behavior at the rail, etc...) The Basics of Western Horsemanship Walk, Trot, Lope:Western -vs- English Neck Reining -vs- Bit Control: Train your horse to neck rein 1:00 PM – Lunch 2:00 PM – Leg Pressure: Train your horse to move away from pressure Pole Bending / Barrel Racing: Apply the training to riding! 3:30 PM – Unsaddle and relax...spend some time soaking by the pool! 5:00 PM – Saloon opens 6:30 PM – Enjoy our fall-off-the-bone ribs with home-made rib sauce 7:30 PM – Listen to our cowboy, Danny, play country-western music. Don't forget your dancing boots! |
Friday – Train your Horse for Roping & Cattle Work 9:00 AM – Ride over to our cattle ranch (Cobre Loma) 9:30 AM – Roping: Train your horse to accept a rope zinging over their head throughdesensitization from the ground, then from his back Pushing Cattle: Train your horse to hook onto a cow and move her through neckreining & leg pressure Team Penning: Break into groups and apply your Western Horsemanship skills to penning cows! 1:00 PM – Lunch 2:00 PM – Western Tack: Learn the difference in bits & saddles, from English to Western. What's right for you and your horse? 3:30 PM – Relaxation time...take a nap or read a book! 5:00 PM – Saloon opens 6:30 PM – Enjoy a home-cooked dinner 7:30 PM – Anyone up for a friendly game of Spoons?! Saturday – Apply It! 9:00 AM – Ride over to our cattle ranch (Cobre Loma) 9:30 AM – Competition!!: Place your new knowledge to the test—how does your horse respond to your western training?! 1:00 PM – Lunch 2:00 PM – Your Choice: Learn how to train on any topic of the group's choice, or if you prefer, enjoy a relaxing afternoon ride 3:30 PM – Unsaddle and perhaps play a game of pool? 5:00 PM – Saloon Opens 6:30 PM – Bite into a juicy steak, cooked to your liking 7:30 PM – Awards Ceremony Sunday 8:30 AM – Meet at the barn & get mounted up 9:00 AM – Take a relaxing morning trail ride, or go for the more challenging advanced ride.Both rides will meet up at 12:30 PM for a lunch cook out by the cattle ranch. 2:00 PM – Farewell until next time!! |
